Blenheim Castle

Today was a day filled with beauty so this specific blog will be just showing the beauty and excess of Blenheim Castle, the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. We took a break from Oxford to visit Blenheim. The grounds are spectacular but it rained all day, so very few pictures of the outside.

This photograph does not begin to show how long the driveway was. We took a public bus to the site and he dropped us off a the end of the road. It was over a mile of driveway!

My attempt at a panoramic shot is a bit wonky. The palace is not curved.

Now THIS, is a privet!

The Library

Doesn't everyone have a gigantic pipe organ in their library?

Just for scale...wow!

Interesting fact, the hairdo in the portrait to the left was created by using several gravity defying objects including chicken wire and paper mâché. The hairdresser was the highest paid member of the staff and it looks like he deserved it.

How many family portraits does one family need? Well, it appears to be all of them.
